There are a few customers that still use old versions like Etere 29 or even older (e.g.: 1481 - Imparja).
In those versions, the workstations management was different compared to how it is now on Etere 36.
While now the maximum number of workstations where Etere can be installed is defined by the number of CAL modules (EA3244/ET2001) in the Etere license, with older versions support used to activate the workstations with a specific tool. Later, Fabio took charge of the workstations activation job and it still works this way.
In order to activate the customer's workstations, they have to follow this procedure:
1. Export an XML file from a specific button in Etere Configuration > Settings > Etere PCs
2. Send the XML file named like "Workstations_[customer code].xml" to Support
Then Support proceeds in this way:
1. Load the xml file in doma and send a standard reply to the customer.
2. Forward the request and the XML file to Fabio by email (and set also the ticket in Advanced Analysis to him), indicating also the reference incident.
3. Fabio will generate a new XML file with the workstations activated and will send it back to Support.
4. At this point, Support have to send the new xml to the customer and put the ticket in Wait status.
Once received, the customer imports the new xml with another dedicated button in the same section. After a restart of the Etere modules, the new workstations will be ready to be used.
WORKSTATIONS XML
Here is an example of how this kind of files are structured:
Workstations_1481.xml
<workstations>
<workstation pcname="IMPWEBSERVER">
<workid>0000E3264CCA</workid>
<worklic>1BAFB0E962D92886E6321A4239C0846A69A923271855B4F60000</worklic>
<workid_signature>0x5F6AD1D662[...]C28F</workid_signature>
<worklic_signature>0x0C6C07D90C[...]9359</worklic_signature>
</workstation>
<workstation pcname="ASP-TS1">
<workid>0002C808A362</workid>
<worklic>1BAFB0E962D92886E6321A4239C0846A69A923271855B4F60000</worklic>
<workid_signature>0x461C635D5C[...]1F40</workid_signature>
<worklic_signature>0x0C6C07D90C[...]9359</worklic_signature>
</workstation>
<workstation pcname="PRO-307C">
<workid>0002CE175B60</workid>
<worklic>5AE13DC12D92491CEF2B1B77433E0F175B777A2D006F1DEA0000</worklic>
<workid_signature></workid_signature>
<worklic_signature></worklic_signature>
</workstation>
</workstations>
The workstations named IMPWEBSERVER and ASP-TS1 are already activated.
Instead, the last workstation doesn't have any 256-char hexadecimal key associated in the tags <workid_signature> and <worklic_signature>, meaning that it's not active yet.
What Fabio does, is to generate the key and produce a new xml file with that key associated to the proper workstation.
Of course, since when this method has been abandoned, the buttons to export and import the xml file have been removed.
